Lit Review
The literary review is a brief summary of sources and synthesis (“Writing,” 2004). It is a piece of work that does not need to appear with a longer part of the work. It is dependent upon four parts, the thoroughness of the research, the reliability of the sources, the ability to relater the research to the writer’s thesis, and the organization and interpretation of the reviewed research (“Writing,” 2004). The difference between a summary and synthesis is that a summary is review of the important information from a source, where as the synthesis is a rearrangement of that information (“Literary Reviews,” 2007).
I feel that the literary review is an important aspect of the research process. Both of these two sites showed that the comprehension of the sources used is a major step to understanding what the writer needs to achieve. It is by understanding the material completely and reorganizing the materials is what allows for the literary review to stand alone. So choosing which sources are used not only reflects in the paper but also on the writer and if they can be a credible source.
